Citizenship

U.S. citizenship can be obtained by birth or by naturalization. The naturalization process is for people who have been permanent residents and wish to become citizens of the United States.


General Requirements:
• Be a legal permanent resident for at least 5 years (or 3 years if married to a U.S. citizen).
• Good moral character.
• Basic knowledge of English and United States history and government.
• Pass a citizenship test.
